Welcome, nonsenser!

What is this?

Technically, this is just a SvelteKit web app hosted on Netlify that displays nonsense stored on Supabase.

Some context...

It all started from a Discord server that I joined named "The Nonsense Galaxy" (now Artiverse), where there was a dedicated #nonsense channel. People could just put whatever in there and the best ones would be included in the server's bot to be displayed once at random with the r!nonsense command.

Unfortunately, as time goes on (more than four years ago!), The Nonsense Galaxy is no more. The original nonsense database that's used by the bot was (almost) lost to time, but that doesn't mean nonsense have to die. #NonsenseNeverDie.

Special thanks to Maxy for saving the original nonsense database from 2021 and Artifyber for providing access to the archived #nonsense channel in Artiverse to import all the older, approved entries to the database!

But even then, that's not the only place where nonsense was made, other Discord servers that I've joined such as MediaPlay Discord and BlueCube Discord (now Cube Central) have some nonsense.

There was definitely more variety in MPD (especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, pretty much being chronically online) along with the spinoff RandomnessPlay Discord, all of which got archived there...or at least remembered there before randomness was no more in the main server.

I guess the only "active" place for nonsense that still remain is the #💠-nonsense channel in BCD (now CC). It's pretty much the spiritual continuation of The Nonsense Galaxy. There's now a Discord server for Nontrinsic, so past (and new) nonsensers can contribute and talk about nonsense!

DON'T USE PROPRIETARY SERVICES FOR YOUR NONSENSE.

...and that's what I did by making this very web app that's free and open-source, at least.

Although, technically, it's still hosted on proprietary services (Netlify, and maybe Cloudflare), but at least the code and the database are free and open-source.

This idea isn't new, but it stuck on my mind for years after not having a "proper" place anymore for nonsense.

Thank you very, very much to all my friends online for all the absurdity (no, I mean it), especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. I couldn't have imagined how I'd live my life now without nonsense...and randomness...and absurdity.
