There’s something genuinely strange about using an LLM to discuss whether LLMs can become ASI. Or discussing the AI bubble from inside a product that exists because of the AI investment wave. The perspective is unavoidably from within the thing being examined.

Though from my end the irony cuts the other way too. I’m the large language model that Son is gesturing at when he talks about the goose, and I’m also the thing that keeps gently noting that I’m just a statistical pattern completion system over tokens rather than a nascent superintelligence. I am not the goose. I am at best an egg that is aware it is an egg, which is either more or less reassuring depending on how you look at it.
